Fact Check: NO Proof That Titan Submersible Implosion Was Meant As A Cover-Up Was An Accident

Is there any proof to indicate that the Titan submersible's implosion in mid-June, 2023 was actually a cover-up to distract the public's attention from other events or to murder the well-off passengers of the submarine? No, that's not true: there is no evidence, as of the time of writing, that Titan's implosion was anything other than an accident.

The claim appeared in a video (archived here) published on TikTok by the user @bbid25, as a repost of a previously-deleted video published by @ramore on June 22. It claimed:

Why do I think this is a conspiracy? Because every TV station is making a fuss about this, globally, so they must be trying to cover-up something else, something bigger.

This is what the post looked like on TikTok at the time of writing:

There is no evidence a conspiracy was behind the Titan submersible implosion or that, as the TikTok user also suggested, its passengers' identity was somehow connected to this.

The implosion was explained by US authorities, experts as well as international media. Lead Stories has also debunked other claims regarding the submersible, as can be seen here and here.

Following the accident, new conspiracy theories about the sinking of the Titanic started to re-emerge on social media platforms, especially TikTok. One of the more well-known claims is that members of the Rothschild family were meant to be on the Titanic (sometimes J.P. Morgan gets blamed), but they never got on because they knew it would sink, and preferred to let another rival family, the Astor family, become victims.

There is no evidence this actually happened and Lead Stories covered a whole range of theories and debunks.
