Did a Romanian doctor and member of a far-right party reveal data showing that mRNA vaccines are dangerous and contain foreign DNA, meaning they should be banned? No, that's not true: Lead Stories has consistently debunked similar theories, while the vaccines have proven to be safe and effective.
The claim originated from a video (archived here) published on TikTok by user @alexandru_ioan_pascu on October 5, 2023, under the title "Doctor with 28 years of experience in the US, AUR MP Sorin-Titus Muncaciu talks about green passport, compulsory vaccination, antivirals and antibiotics." It was translated from Romanian to English by Lead Storie staff. The MP says:
This is an experimental procedure that uses genetic transfer. (...) It's not normal for a vaccine to be released in less than five years of research, but they thought the emergency of the situation meant we should have this experimental vaccine.

Sorin-Titus Muncaciu is an orthopedist who is also a member of Parliament from the far-right Romanian party AUR He is known for his aggressive outbursts, which led him to be fined by Parliament in August 2023 and for his anti-vaccine rhetoric.
On September 18, 2023, he published a series of arguments on Facebook for "detoxing" after being injected with the COVID-19 vaccine, based on an article by known anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist Peter McCullough. Lead Stories has previously debunked McCullough's arguments.
As for the claim that mRNA vaccines contain or affect DNA, Lead Stories has also debunked that: the vaccine neither contains DNA nor does it impact human DNA. The vaccines are also not dangerous, on the contrary - they have been proven to be safe and effective.
